Actuaries manage risk. They analyse the likelihood that events or accidents will happen, and help to plan for (or avoid) those events. You’ll be a key player in a management team that helps businesses plan for the future.
- Actuarial Apprentice
- Qualified Actuary
- Senior Actuary
You usually need a minimum of grade B in A-level mathematics or equivalent. If you love working with numbers, this could be the role for you, as actuarial work is all about mathematical models, and using the experience of past events to understand future risk and probability.
Skills and qualities required
Unlike many other roles in risk, actuaries do not work directly with external clients. Numeracy is vital, but beyond this you will need to develop the capacity to give expert advice.
